A Letter To Your Mother

Thanks for this beautiful gift you gave this world. "Thank You", seems like a smaller word. But wait, will this gift think like you do? Or is it independent enough? You must not have thought this. Actually, I have seen enough. I have heard enough. I am tired of this. Are you a parent? Or a child? I don't really care as of now. But, you should. You should go back and think about your actions. You should think about your thinking. Are we moving towards the age of robots or you already have given birth to one? I am confused. Wait! This letter is not for you! This letter is for your mother.

Everywhere I see, every time I hear, the same whining and the same useless thoughts make me think about the existence of yours in this world.  You must have thought you are a great parent, a great mom perhaps. But, does someone else thinks the same? Is she proud of you in the same way as you are proud of her? No, she will think. Yes, she will say. "Nobody thinks of me", is the perfect solution and resolution to hundreds of problems you have in your life. Don't you really think of her? I am glad you care about society. I am glad society still does not care about you. But, is this never-ending? I have thought so many times. "Yes" has been the most popular answer. You must be proud of her beauty, on her brain and how she does the household chores. Her beauty will bring her money throughout her life. She thinks the same. This is enough to rest in peace. Is it? The never-ending list of your wishes and hopes have made her walk with her shoulders down. Have you ever thought of her and kept your foot in her shoes. "No", you would say, "she would never let me do". Oh! wait. I never thought it from her end. Does she try to prove her existence? Does she make you feel she is independent? No, you would say. Is she afraid or is she stupid? Is this how you shaped her mind. I am sorry. You failed.

"Emotion" is the only weapon you know. Did someone say "education is the best weapon"? No. I don't say that. No matter how much you educate her, the insanity and selfishness still persist. Should I blame it on her? Or you are the culprit? This is a beautiful gift I see. But, a robot you might see. How selfish can you be? You show her your tears but have you seen her's? You care about her world, but do you know who her world could be? Is this selfishness? Yes, I see. But, hey! she is the same as you. She is doing the same, you see. She will show her tears but will she see someone else's? No. Bricks of selfishness have made her soul and unfortunately, you were the bricklayer and you were the architect. This is a letter for you. Because I see the root as you. Listen, think and act. The world is changing. What will you do with a hundred rights when you do not care about your own child? You want your child to have rights when you yourself have not given any to her. What will you do being so religious when the god has already said sorry to you. Why? You wonder? Did God really want you doing this? Then your god is a lie and you are just a puppet with a brainless head. You have started a chain reaction of ruining the lives. Still, you do not care and neither does she. But I do. I care about this world and my country. This is a letter to you. A warning maybe. But, everything is going in the wrong direction. Let her live like how she wants to be. If she revolts, understand her. "Ill Mannered" is a very strong word. Do we need to speak every time we want someone to understand us? Why is she crying? Why are you crying? When the reason is so silly. Please don't tell "society". When will you understand? Society is YOU. How stupid are you to find so many reasons when deep inside you know this all is just wrong.

I have learnt enough from all of you. You gave birth to a selfish robot whose remote is with you. Let her do what she wants. Isn't that you wanted when she was born? Speaking up is good manners not bad. Doesn't she have some existence in this world? Just mentoring her in the household chores and seeing her marry will make you rest in peace? But, why do you always think only about you? What about her soul? Doesn't she have a right to rest in peace? If this is what you thought and if this is what is happening, I am saddened for the limited resources of Earth that got shared with her. She is useless to this world. This is a letter to you. I hope you will understand. You will give your child what she wants. You will respect her as much as she respects you. This is not a letter. It's a mirror for your face. Or maybe soul. You will understand one day. I hope that day does not come when the sand has slipped from the hand. I hope your never-ending wishes and hope come to rest. I hope she also understands her existence and thinks from her mind. I know she still thinks you are the commander. I hope that changes. I hope she stands for her right. This is just a letter to you. Are you sorry? Don't be. There is still some time left. I am sure you will understand. But for me, as of now, I have only one question. Are you a parent? Or are you a child? Actually, I don't really care. I have seen enough and I have heard enough. I am tired of this bullshit.

Pangong Tso to Leh - Final Chapter - Ladakh Diaries Page 4

The morning in Pangong Tso was the most beautiful morning ever. My window had a perfect view of the lake and between us were green crops and vegetables grown by the locals. It is too far from the world and no vegetable vendor, fruits or anything else come here. You eat what you grow beside your home. The last village was Tangtse which was 30 km back and this was the day we were to move from Pangong Tso to Leh with our bikes. View from the window The sun was shining brightly and the cold wind filled the dry atmosphere with a view of snow that fell last night on the mountains just a few meters above us. I went outside to the door which was already open and the sunlight was coming inside forming a door shape on the floor. Outside was a small dog, white in colour, bombarded by thousands of smells he was sensing here. All these smells made him too excited on this bright day. He had a very short concentration span. He would smell something and a second later run towards another to smell s...

The Divided States Of India

As I landed in the city of Bangalore, a man is shouting just outside the airport. He is shouting something that I do not understand. Fortunately, he has learned 4 5 English words. After all, he is standing outside the airport. “ Where, ” he asks. “ Marathahalli ” I spoke. “ Bus 8 ”. He says one word and starts shouting again. He was a bus driver. But most importantly, a resident of Karnataka state in India. Yes, this place is in my country and we both cannot communicate. Many years back when I was in the eighth standard, my textbooks proudly and boldly highlighted the words, “ India is a diverse country ”. They would show the culture and folk dances of each state. Unique on its own. A moment to feel proud. You can never find a country as diverse as India, as culturally rich as India. That was just the textbook. My practical started almost 2 months ago. Soon when I reached my hotel I realized nobody in the hotel knows Hindi. Yes, Hindi. A language spoken in India....

The Last Few Steps - Manikarnika Ghat

Varanasi or Kashi or Banaras, whatever one may call it, the place plays a significant role in the life of a Hindu whether he believes in god or not. It's not about the temples you visit but the air you breathe when you are walking on the congested streets of Varanasi. It's about the ghats you visit. It's about the food you eat. For long people have associated Kashi with a sense of spirituality often labeling you with tags as "devotee" or "Shiv Bhakt" but my trip to Varanasi made me realize that the magic that people talk about happens not inside the temples but in the places you would least expect. Varanasi and the vibes I was one among the millions of people who arrived in Varanasi for the annual event of Dev Deepawali celebrated fifteen days after Diwali and organized by the Uttar Pradesh Government. The highlights of the event are the firecrackers which when I witnessed, completely left me in awe of the moment. The greatest fire show I witnessed! Bu...

People I Met Only Once | Leo Beer in Lucerne, Switzerland | Part 1

When you travel, especially alone, you sometimes meet other people who are in the same space as you. What's exciting for me is to think for a second about how we met at the same place. If you think about it, if they are foreigners like me, they might have decided to come to that country, applied for a visa, and booked tickets while I was also doing the same, sitting in my home. They must have thought about going to the same place that day when I decided to go too. Sometimes, they would have other plans, but they got changed, and they arrived at the same location at the same time where I was, or vice versa. It's something I witnessed long back, an account I wrote in the Butterfly Effect blog.  These people stayed with me even after those meetings. I have often found myself telling these stories to my friends, and they have often appreciated it. Some stories, I have never told anyone. Such encounters rarely end up in exchanging numbers, but I still remember all of them, and I wi...

A DAY BEFORE LONG NIGHTS - THE LANDING || PART 10

As I mentioned earlier, I have been seeing double from the first day to now. My eyes did not improve even a little for many days. Everything I used to see was doubled. Two doors, two mobile phones, two coffee cups, everything. The doctor said my pupils are not moving synchronously as they should, and hence, you are seeing two images of everything. The images are seen separately by both eyes, but our brain combines them as one, while in your case, it is still two images. But you will be fine with time. With time. This is a very vague sentence. There is no specific maximum limit, nor is there any medicine. You will see normally with time. Hence, I waited for " the time ". Two days after I came home after being discharged, I picked up my father's phone, opened Chrome browser, and typed, GB Syndrome patients case studies . I wanted to know how much time? How everyone else has managed and how much time they took. I needed to know. I needed to be prepared at least. I read th...

My fight with Guillain Barre Syndrome || Part 1

I took my empty bag, I took my jacket, dressed in college uniform I started my ride. I was going to my college to give my final semester presentation for the project I had done in LTI, Mumbai . I was happy about the fact that after today, there will be no exams, no attendance and my college life would be over. I had my days planned. Since I had been on the flight from Mumbai to Delhi to come home, I had planned all my days. I wanted to learn driving at a driving school. I wanted to learn swimming. I wanted to go to the gym. I wanted to go on at least three trips in one month. I had all planned but I guess life had other plans for me.       I gave my presentation to a four-judge panel out of which three were ladies. They were chit-chatting and I don't remember any of them listening to me after I told them the company and brief of the project. My presentation was over as soon as they told me "Thank You". It was a moment of epiphany. My college was over with ...

Chronicle of Harsil Valley: My Last Night in Harshil

In the last part , as I mentioned, we hurriedly went to the market to buy wool as the clouds were getting darker, and when I looked over the mountain peaks, they looked straight from an alien movie. Harshil Valley had changed many colours since I had arrived. My main motive for visiting the market was to buy original sheep wool from a local house, and my mother had promised she would knit the sweater for me. When we reached there, all the shopkeepers were running to shut their shops to get to their homes before the rain. I was there in November, and it was not a "touristy" time. People just pass through Harshil in the summer months as it falls on the way to Gangotri Dham. The gates had closed in October, and in addition, it was the start of harsh winters that Harshil faces. Half of the locals had already migrated to Uttarkashi and Pauri for the winters, while a few left who were waiting to prune the Apple trees.  The first shop I went into, the woman was in a hurry. It is wor...

A Day's Tale Of My Travel In Meghalaya

It has been a long-awaited trip to Meghalaya. I always wanted to visit the states far in the east and experience their culture. In the December of 2021 by booking tickets for Meghalaya, me and three of my friends decided to explore this state navigating our ways by an i20 car that we took from Guwahati. Since our entry and exit point was Guwahati, it made sense.  Meghalaya is a small hilly state with a population of around 75%  Christians. This was one of the reasons that we had planned a trip during the last days of December to celebrate Christmas Day. The day around which this story pertains is the same day that we wanted to celebrate and came here for. Trekking in Mawryngkhang Trek On 25th December 2021, four of us decided to do a nature trek in Meghalaya around 50km away from Shillong where we were staying till now. Today was the day for which we didn't have any bookings done as we were not able to find any hotels online. A unanimous decision pointed towards " w...

Chronicle of Harsil Valley - Part 1 - Apple Orchards, Forest Trails, and a Very Large Dog

In November, I decided to visit Harsil Valley. A picturesque valley with snow-peaked mountains and the last settled village on the way to the Gangotri Dham. It had long been my wish to visit Harsil, and at a time when the water is blue and the wind is cold. Fortunately, November weather matches my conditions perfectly. I booked a homestay with Ishan, whose first line read, "Atop a small 1.5 km hike is our home with beautiful Apple orchards." When I enquired with him before booking, he was quick to tell me that the homestay is not in the valley, but we have to hike a bit to get there. "Although the view from my home is great," he said after mentioning the hike. Hiking wasn't a problem, and I could easily sacrifice my legs for the views in Harsil Valley.  My trip to the Harsil valley started with multiple U-turns, thanks to Ishan, who was confused and did not know the signs on the way. "I am at the signboard that says, Welcome to Bagori village", I said,...
